These are definitions for words used in Missouri laws about public works jobs. A 'Missouri laborer' is someone who has lived in Missouri for at least 30 days and plans to stay. A 'period of excessive unemployment' is a month that comes right after two months in a row where Missouri's unemployment rate was over 5%. 'Public works' means construction projects paid for by the government.

Word-for-word law

290.550. Definitions. — As used in sections 290.550 to 290.580, the following terms mean:

(1) "", persons who are residents of a state which has not enacted state laws restricting Missouri laborers from working on projects in that state, as determined by the ;

(2) "Missouri laborer", any person who has resided in Missouri for at least thirty days and intends to become or remain a Missouri resident;

(3) "A ", any month immediately following two months during which the level of un in the state has exceeded five percent as measured by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics in its monthly of employment and unemployment figures;

(4) "Public works", projects defined as public works section 290.210.
