Registration fees

When someone registers a vehicle, they pay the fee at the same time they apply. If the registration is late, there is an extra $5 penalty fee. For vehicles where the registration was due before September 1, 1984 and was never paid, the fee owed is whatever the fee was back when it was originally due, plus the $5 late penalty.

301.050. for . — All registration fees shall be payable to the and shall accompany the for . A penalty fee of five dollars shall be paid on all registrations. Any motor vehicle on which the falls due prior to September 1, 1984, and which is delinquent shall thereafter be by the to renew that annual registration at the fee in effect when the annual registration was due plus the penalty provided in this section.
