Former Missouri legislator special license plate, application, fee

A person who used to be a member of the Missouri state legislature can get special license plates that say 'FORMER MISSOURI LEGISLATOR' on them. They pay a $15 fee on top of the regular registration fee each year. No more than two sets of these plates can be issued to one person, and the plates cannot be passed on to someone else (though a co-owner can keep using them for the rest of that year if the qualified person dies).

301.3106. Former Missouri legislator special , , fee. — 1. Any individual who is a former legislator of the Missouri may receive special license plates as prescribed by this section, for any motor vehicle such person owns, either solely or jointly, other than an or a d in excess of twenty-four thousand . Any individual who is a former legislator of the Missouri general assembly may annually apply for such license plates.

2. Upon presentation of the of eligibility as determined by the and annual payment of a fifteen dollar fee in addition to the , and other documents which may be required by law, the shall to the vehicle owner a which shall bear an appropriate to be determined by the director, with the words "FORMER MISSOURI LEGISLATOR" in place of the words "SHOW-ME STATE". Such license plates shall be made with with a common color scheme and design, shall be clearly visible at night, and shall be aesthetically attractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. the of section 301.144, no additional fee shall be charged for the of license plates this section.

3. No more than two sets of license plates shall be issued pursuant to this section to a . License plates issued pursuant to this section shall not be to any other person except that any of the motor vehicle shall be entitled to operate the motor vehicle with such s for the duration of the year licensed in the event of the death of the qualified person. Any or portion of a rule, as that term is defined in section 536.010, that is created under the in this section shall become effective only if it complies with and is subject to all of the provisions of and, if applicable, section 536.028.
