Alpha Phi Omega special license plates, application, fee
Members or former members of Alpha Phi Omega (a college service group) can get a special license plate showing the group's emblem. They pay $25 a year to Alpha Phi Omega and $15 extra to the state when registering their vehicle. The plate shows the Alpha Phi Omega emblem instead of the usual 'Show-Me State' words. If someone skips the $25 payment one year, they get a regular plate without the emblem.
301.3137. Alpha Phi Omega special s, , fee. — 1. Any current member or alumnus of the Alpha Phi Omega organizations at any college or university within this state may apply for special motor vehicle license plates for any motor vehicle such person owns, either solely or jointly, other than an or a d in excess of twenty-four thousand , after an annual payment of an to Alpha Phi Omega. Alpha Phi Omega hereby authorizes the use of their official to be on as provided in this section. Any to Alpha Phi Omega derived from this section, except reasonable , shall be used solely for the purposes of that organization. Any member or alumnus of Alpha Phi Omega may annually apply for the use of the organization's emblem.
2. Upon annual application and payment of a twenty-five dollar emblem-use contribution to Alpha Phi Omega, the organization shall to the vehicle owner, without further charge, an , which shall be presented by the owner to the at the time of of a motor vehicle. Upon presentation of the annual statement, payment of a fifteen dollar fee in addition to the and documents which may be required by law, the department of revenue shall issue to the vehicle owner a which shall bear the emblem of Alpha Phi Omega and the words "ALPHA PHI OMEGA" shall replace the words "SHOW-ME STATE". Such license plates shall be made with with a common color scheme and design, shall be clearly visible at night, and shall be aesthetically attractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. the of section 301.144, no additional fee shall be charged for the of license plates this section.
3. A vehicle owner, who was previously issued a with the Alpha Phi Omega emblem by this section but who does not provide an emblem-use authorization statement at a subsequent time of registration, shall be issued a new plate which does not bear the Alpha Phi Omega emblem, as otherwise provided by law. The shall make necessary for the of this section, and shall design all necessary forms required by this section. Any or portion of a rule, as that term is defined in section 536.010, that is created under the in this section shall become effective only if it complies with and is subject to all of the provisions of and, if applicable, section 536.028.
