Inspection of certain documents and odometer readings in possession of dealers, manufacturers and auctions
Car dealers, boat dealers, manufacturers, and auction businesses in Missouri have to let state workers or law enforcement look at certain paperwork during normal business hours. This paperwork includes vehicle titles, title applications, odometer readings, and inventory records.
301.564. Inspection of certain documents and readings in of s, s and auctions — law official, defined. — 1. Any person or his licensed or as a manufacturer, , , boat dealer, or a the of sections 301.550 to 301.580 shall an employee of the or any law enforcement official to inspect, during normal business hours, any of the following documents which are in his possession or under his or control:
(1) Any to any motor vehicle or ;
(2) Any for title to any motor vehicle or vessel;
(3) Any provided pursuant to sections 301.550 to 301.580 or chapter 407;
(4) Any to any motor vehicle or vessel;
(5) Any statement or other document relating to or odometer readings required by the laws of the United States or any other state;
(6) Any and related documentation.
2. For purposes of this section, the term "law enforcement official" shall mean any of the following:
(1) , or any person by him to make such an inspection;
(2) Any or any person designated by a prosecuting attorney to make such an inspection;
(3) Any member or or designated employee of the Missouri state patrol;
(4) Any sheriff or sheriff;
(5) Any pursuant to chapter 590 acting in his .
