Motorcycle safety trust fund established, purpose
Missouri set up a special savings account called the Motorcycle Safety Trust Fund. Money goes into this fund from court fees, government money, and donations. That money is used to pay for motorcycle safety classes. When someone gets in trouble in court for breaking a traffic or criminal law — even a small one — they get charged an extra $1 fee. That $1 goes into this fund. The fee is not charged if the case gets dropped or if the government is paying the costs.
302.137. Motorcycle safety established, purpose — operators of motorcycles or motortricycles in violation of laws or to be assessed , collection, distribution. — 1. There is hereby created in the for use by the a to be known as the "Motorcycle Safety Trust Fund". 2. In all criminal cases, including violations of any county or any violation of criminal or traffic laws of this state, including an , there shall be a surcharge in the amount of one dollar. No such surcharge shall be collected in any involving a violation of an ordinance or state law when the proceeding or has been dismissed by the court or when costs are to be paid by the state, county or .
3. Such surcharge shall be collected and by the as provided in sections 488.010 to 488.020. The surcharge collected pursuant to this section shall be paid to the state treasury to the of the motorcycle safety trust fund established in this section.
