Owner may give proof for employees or family members

If someone needs to prove they have car insurance or financial responsibility, but they work for a car owner or live in that owner's family or household, the owner can provide that proof for them instead. This lets that person drive the owner's vehicle. The state puts a note on that person's driver's license showing this arrangement.

303.250. Owner may give for employees or family members. — Whenever any person required to give hereunder is or later becomes an in the employ of any owner, or is or later becomes a member of the immediate family or household of the owner, the shall accept proof given by such owner proof by such other person to such other person to operate a motor vehicle for which the owner has given proof as herein provided.
