Report of nonconformity required, when

In plain English

If a new car has something wrong with it that breaks the promises made in the warranty, the owner needs to report the problem to the car maker or dealer. This report must happen within the warranty period or within one year of buying the car, whichever comes first. Once the problem is reported in time, the car maker or dealer has to fix it, even if the actual repair happens after that time period ends.
