When someone files a petition and gets an order about a child, those papers have to be officially delivered to the other person named in the case and to anyone who is physically taking care of the child. There is one exception covered in a different section of the law (section 452.885).
452.875. of and . — Except as otherwise provided in section 452.885, the petition and order shall be by any method by the laws of this state upon the and any person who has of the child.
