Establishment of support order

In plain English

This law explains when a Missouri court can create a child support order. If no support order already exists, a Missouri court can make one when the person asking for support lives in another state, or when the agency helping with support is in another state. The court can also make a temporary child support order in certain situations, like when a man is believed to be or proven to be the child's father, or when someone already had a support order before. If the court finds that a person owes support, it will officially order that person to pay.
