Records of payments and disbursements kept by division
The state division keeps records of all child support payments and money sent out through the payment center. These records are kept in a computer system and include how much support is owed, how much is past due, and all payment history. The circuit clerk sends old payment records to the payment center and can record other credits against what someone owes, like tax refund collections or work injury benefits. In cases where the state is not involved in collecting support, only payments actually received by the payment center are recorded by the division, and everything else is recorded by the clerk.
