If the person named in a will to handle the estate is either a child (under 18) or out of the state, a court can put someone else in charge of the estate until that person grows up or comes back.
473.133. during or absence. — If the named in a is a or absent from the state, may be granted, during the time of minority or absence, to some other person who shall take charge of the property and the same according to law, under the direction of the court.
