When someone thinks property belongs to a deceased person's estate but another person is holding it or claiming it, someone involved in the estate can file a paper in court to figure out who really owns or should have that property. The court can hold a trial, decide who owns the property, and order it turned over. If the property was already sold or given away, the court can order the person to pay money instead, plus extra money for any losses caused by wrongfully holding the property.
