If the person managing a dead person's estate does not ask the court for something (like selling property), someone else who is owed money or has an interest in the estate can ask the court instead. That person has to give the estate manager a 20-day heads-up before filing. The court can then order the estate manager to hand over information and records, and the court handles things the same way it would if the estate manager had filed first.
