Exchange of property

When it would help an estate, the court can allow the person managing the estate to trade property — either belongings or real estate — for other property. The trade can also include some cash going in or out. The same court steps used to sell that type of property apply to the trade as well.

473.537. Exchange of property. — Whenever it appears upon the of the or or of any person interested in the to be to the best interests of the estate to exchange any of the estate for other property, the court may authorize the exchange upon such terms and conditions as it may , which may include the payment or receipt of part cash by the executor or administrator. If of the estate is to be exchanged, the proceedings required for the sale of such property shall apply so far as may be; if of the estate is to be exchanged, the procedure for the sale of such property shall apply so far as may be.
