When someone gets money or property from a dead person's estate, they might have to give some of it back if the estate still owes debts. A court can order this within five years of when the money was paid out. The amount each person has to return is based on how much they received. People who got specific items (like a named piece of property) only have to give back if there is not enough other estate money to cover the debts. If someone refuses to return what the court ordered, the court can issue a judgment against them after giving ten days' written notice.
