Certified paper copy of electronic will

An electronic will is a will stored digitally. A person can make a paper copy of it official by swearing — under threat of legal punishment for lying — that the paper copy is complete and exactly matches the digital version. That official paper copy counts the same as the original digital will under the law.

474.556. of . — 1. An individual may create a certified paper copy of an electronic will by affirming under that a paper copy of the electronic will is a complete, true, and accurate copy of the electronic will. If the electronic will is made , the certified paper copy of the will shall include a as provided in sections 474.337 or 474.550.

2. If a of law or of procedure requires a will to be presented or retained in its original form or provides legal consequences for the not being presented or retained in its original form, that provision or rule shall be satisfied by a certified paper copy of an electronic will.
