Treble damages if waste was wantonly committed

If someone purposely and recklessly destroys or damages property they were supposed to take care of, a court will make them pay three times the normal amount of damages.

537.490. if was committed. — If in any for waste, the jury find that the waste was wantonly committed, shall be entered for three times the amount of the assessed.
