An owner of a vehicle with permanent registration can also get personalized license plates for that vehicle. They pay the regular one-time permanent registration fee plus the yearly fee for personalized plates. The plates may have a tab or marking to show what year they were issued.
301.135. — design and color — fee. — Any motor vehicle which is eligible for the of section 301.131 may also be d by the owner thereof with in the same manner as that otherwise provided by law. Such and s shall be made and issued only upon the payment of an annual fee equivalent to that regularly charged for personalized license plates in addition to the one-time permanent registration fee by section 301.131. Such license plates may have a tab or other identifying characteristics to readily show the year for which issued.
