Licenses required for certain businesses

Random law
In plain English

Some businesses that deal with old, wrecked, or scrapped vehicles need a special license from the Missouri Department of Revenue. This includes businesses that sell used vehicle parts, wreck or take apart vehicles to sell the parts, rebuild four or more wrecked vehicles a year, or crush and scrap vehicles. Sales at salvage pools or salvage disposal sales can only be made to licensed dealers or certain out-of-state or foreign buyers. The operator of those sales must keep records of each sale for three years and report them to the department every three months. When selling a wrecked or non-repairable vehicle to someone who does not live in the United States, the title must be stamped with the words 'FOR EXPORT ONLY.'
