Distinguished Flying Cross military service award, special license plates
People who have received the military award called the Distinguished Flying Cross can get special license plates for their cars or trucks. They pay a $15 extra fee on top of normal registration costs, and there is no extra charge to personalize the plates. A person can get as many sets of these plates as they want, as long as each plate goes on a car they own. If the award winner dies, a co-owner of the vehicle can still use the plates until the registration year ends.
301.3053. Distinguished Flying Cross military , special plates — procedure, fees — no additional fee — design. — 1. Any person who has been awarded the military service award known as the "Distinguished Flying Cross" may apply for Distinguished Flying Cross motor vehicle license plates for any motor vehicle such person owns, either solely or jointly, other than an or a licensed in excess of twenty-four thousand .
2. Any such person shall make application for the Distinguished Flying Cross license plates on a form provided by the and furnish such as a of the Distinguished Flying Cross as the may require. The director shall then license plates bearing or numbers or a combination thereof as determined by the director with the words "DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS" in place of the words "SHOW-ME STATE". Such license plates shall be made with with a common color scheme and design, shall be clearly visible at night, and shall be aesthetically attractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. Such plates shall also bear an image of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
3. There shall be a fifteen dollar fee in addition to the regular charged for each set of Distinguished Flying Cross license plates issued this section. A fee for the of pursuant to section 301.144 shall not be required for plates issued pursuant to this section. There shall be no limit on the number of license plates any person qualified pursuant to this section may obtain so long as each set of license plates issued pursuant to this section is issued for vehicles owned solely or jointly by such person. License plates issued pursuant to the of this section shall not be to any other person except that any of the motor vehicle shall be entitled to operate the motor vehicle with such plates for the duration of the year licensed in the event of the death of the qualified person.
