Honorable discharge from the military special license plates, application, fee
Someone who served in the U.S. military and got an honorable discharge can get special 'U.S. VET' license plates for their personal vehicles. There is a one-time $15 extra fee on top of regular registration costs. A person can get these plates for as many vehicles as they own, but the plates cannot be passed on to another person (except a co-owner can keep using the vehicle if the veteran dies).
301.3054. from the military special s, , fee. — 1. Any person who in the active military in a branch of the armed services of the United States and was from such service may apply for special for any motor vehicle other than an or a licensed in excess of twenty-four thousand . Any such person shall make application for the special license plates on a form provided by the and furnish such and status as an as the may require.
2. Upon presentation of of eligibility and payment of a fifteen dollar fee in addition to the regular , and presentation of any documents which may be required by law, the director shall to the vehicle owner special personalized license plates with the words "U.S. VET" in place of the words "SHOW-ME STATE". Such license plates shall be made with with a common color scheme and design, shall be clearly visible at night, shall have a reflective white background with a blue and red in the area of the , and shall be aesthetically attractive, as prescribed by section 301.130. the of section 301.144, no additional fee shall be charged for the of license plates this section.
3. There shall be no limit on the number of license plates any person qualified under this section may obtain so long as each set of license plates issued under this section is issued for vehicles owned solely or jointly by such person. License plates issued pursuant to this section shall not be to any other person except that any of the vehicle may operate the vehicle for the duration of the in the event of the death of the qualified person. The director of revenue shall make necessary for the of this section, and shall design all necessary forms required by this section. Any or portion of a rule, as that term is defined in section 536.010, that is created under the in this section shall become effective only if it complies with and is subject to all of the provisions of and, if applicable, section 536.028. This section and chapter 536 are and if any of the powers with the pursuant to chapter 536 to , to delay the , or to disapprove and a rule are subsequently held , then the of and any rule proposed or adopted after August 28, 2004, shall be and .
