Most all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) driven in Missouri need to be registered with the state. A few ATVs don't need registration — ones owned by the government, owned by a city or local government, or ones already registered in another state or country that have only been in Missouri for 30 days or less. Someone under 16 years old is not allowed to register an ATV.

2. A registration is not required for the following:
(1) All-terrain vehicles owned and operated by the United States, another state, or a thereof;
(2) All-terrain vehicles owned and operated by this state or by any or political subdivision thereof;
(3) All-terrain vehicles covered by a valid registration of another state or country that have not been within this state for more than thirty days.
3. No person under sixteen years of age shall be allowed to an all-terrain vehicle.
