Devices, use of, when

In plain English

If someone is found guilty of a drunk or impaired driving offense, a court may or must make them put a special device on their car that checks if they've been drinking before the car will start. For a first offense, the court can choose to require it. For a second or later offense, the court must require it for at least six months after the person gets their license back. If someone gets a limited driving privilege after a second or later offense, they also must have the device on any car they drive.
