People who show up to court as witnesses get paid $25 for each day they are there, plus money to cover their travel based on how far they drove. The court can ask a witness questions under oath to figure out the right amount to pay them.

491.280. Fees of es. — 1. Witnesses shall be allowed fees for their services in the amount of twenty-five dollars per day plus a determined as provided in section 33.095.
