Some people get extra time to file a lawsuit if they had a disability when their right to sue first started. If someone was under 18 years old or mentally incapacitated at that time, the clock on their deadline does not start ticking while that disability lasts. After the disability ends, that person has 3 more years to file. However, no one gets more than 21 years total from when the right to sue first started, no matter what.
516.030.
