Private entities to make application to circuit court to provide misdemeanor probation
A private company that wants to run probation services for people convicted of misdemeanors must apply in writing to the judges in that court circuit. If the judges approve, the paperwork and a contract get sent to the state's probation and parole division. The contract spells out what the private company is responsible for. After that, the state probation and parole division can step back and let the private company handle supervision of those misdemeanor offenders.
