If someone files a workers' comp claim but does not move it forward, the claim can be thrown out. Before that happens, the worker gets a notice in the mail — sent certified or registered mail — unless the worker has a lawyer, in which case the lawyer gets the notice too. A judge officially closes the case with a written order, and that order counts the same as a final decision that can be appealed.
